What this site is
San Diego County Bookkeeper is an independent website for owners in the City of San Diego, North County, the South Bay and East County. Its pages explain bookkeeping by service, by industry and by city, including the local taxes that reach your books.
Any request you send from this site lands with the bookkeeping partner behind it. That partner's team does the work.
Who does the bookkeeping
The partner is a bookkeeping team made up of real people. They work remotely inside your accounting file (QuickBooks, Xero and more), reconcile your accounts and send you short lists of questions by phone, video or email.
There is no San Diego office. You will not need to visit one, and nothing has to be mailed or dropped off.
Why a San Diego site
Bookkeeping here has local wrinkles. The City of San Diego bases its business tax on how many employees you have, and the City Treasurer says each city has its own business tax requirement, so a second shop in another city follows different rules. Short-term rentals inside city limits pay transient occupancy tax every month. This site explains each of those in plain words.
Every page should help you even if you never send a request. Spot an error? Send a note and the page gets fixed.
What the team does and does not do
- Does: the monthly close, cleanup, catch-up, setting up QuickBooks, Xero and more, and year-end books your CPA can use.
- Does: R&D tax credit support for companies that may qualify.
- Does not: prepare or file tax returns, give legal advice, or submit city business tax renewals on your behalf.
How a request moves
- You fill in the form. Say what the business does, which software you use and how current the books are.
- The partner receives it. A bookkeeper on the partner team reads your note. There is no call center in between.
- You have a short call. You cover the gaps in the file, the errors and the first priority.
- You choose. If you go ahead, you sign directly with the partner, whose name you see first. This site never collects money.
How the partnership works
Two separate businesses are involved. This site publishes the guides and forwards requests. The partner's bookkeepers answer them, review your file and do the monthly work.
A contract, if you want one, is between you and the partner alone. You are told their name before you agree to anything.
How these pages are kept accurate
Any local rule on this site, such as the City of San Diego business tax, comes with a link to the government page it came from. Each page shows the month of its last update.
Cities change fees and forms. Tell us through the form when something looks stale.
Your information
A request sent here shares your name, contact details and message with our bookkeeping partner so a bookkeeper can answer. The privacy policy has the details. Nobody sells your details.
Questions
Who owns this site?
An independent owner, not the bookkeeping partner. The partner receives requests and keeps the books, and its name is shared with you before you commit to any work.
Is this a CPA firm?
No. It is bookkeeping. Your CPA keeps preparing and filing your returns.
Where is the team?
The partner's bookkeepers work remotely. They serve San Diego County clients without any office visits.
